Frank Ocean says he didn’t want a Grammy nomination. He purposely didn’t submit his new album “Blonde” for Grammy consideration because he doesn’t want any part of The Recording Academy.
Quote, “It doesn’t seem to be representing very well for people who come from where I come from, and hold down what I hold down. I think the infrastructure of the awarding system and the nomination system and screening system is dated.
“I’d rather this be my Colin Kaepernick moment for the Grammys than sit there in the audience.”
Frank said that since he was born in 1987, only a few black artists have won Album of the Year, including Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Ray Charles, Lauryn Hill, and Outkast. and in his eyes, there have been plenty of other amazing artists.
