Earleir this month, there was talk that the owners might demand that the players stand, through a rule or some other agreement.
Well, that isn’t happening, at least for now.
Commissioner Roger Goodell says the league met with some players yesterday, but it was more about understanding the meaning behind the protests.
Goodell was asked if the league was seeking a commitment from the players to stand . . . and he said, “We did not ask for that. We spent today talking about the issues that players have been trying to bring attention to . . . issues to make our communities better.
“I think we all agree there’s nothing more important than trying to give back to our communities and make them better. That was the entire focus of today.”
